For those concerned about the sewage overflow, heavy rains, cold temperatures and siege-manufactured misery in Gaza, here are some links for solidarity actions/support:

Medical Aid for Palestinians (MAP-UK): “Our team in Gaza are working hard to source the most urgent medicines but without immediate help, these stock levels will drop even lower before the end of the year. It is staggering to think that as we approach the end of 2013, children, separated only by their ethnicity, are dying from a lack of basic medical care; medical care that is freely available to other children just a few miles from their homes.”DONATE HERE

[via Haithem al Zabri]: KinderUSA is distributing sweaters and shoes to children in the areas hardest hit by the floods. “When we distributed the lamps I saw these children shivering without shoes and little clothing. This is needed relief,” said Hana KinderUSA Gaza representative. $20 will buy a child both shoes and a sweater. DONATE HERE

“Any normal community would struggle to recover from this disaster,” said Chris Gunness, spokesperson for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, on Dec. 14. “But a community that has been subjected to one of the longest blockades in human history, whose public health system has been destroyed and where the risk of disease was already rife, must be freed from these man made constraints to deal with the impact of a natural calamity such as this.”
