Interviews With Donetsk Residents After Joining Russia

Given the predictable Western negation of the referendum to join Russia, and following having done many interviews with people during the referendum, yesterday I did some follow up interviews with Donetsk residents, asking their opinions on joining Russia.🎉🎉

[Don’t laugh too hard at my feeble attempts at asking questions in Russian.]

  1. According to the Western media, Russia is bad and the US, the Ukraine, France, Turkey and almost everyone else is good. The Australia media is just awful and I refuse to listen to it anymore. This person stated to realize that a narrative had formed and most people just accepted what they heard. But, the problem with that is you shouldn’t believe everything you hear. Sometimes, just sometimes the truth isn’t as obvious as it seems. After the terrible events in 2014 where YouTube carried Ass. Secretary of State Victoria Nuland’s last minute instructions to U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt regarding the U.S. pick for new Ukrainian prime minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk aka “Yats is our man” and other plans for the imminent coup d’état in Kiev. I knew something wasn’t right in the Ukraine.

The Donbas actually turned to Russia for help and Putin had decided to conduct a special military operation to remove the Nazi stain in in the country. The Azov Battalion was run by Arsen Avakov, for example, Ukraine’s interior minister. (According to the BBC, he pays its fighters, and has appointed one of its military commanders, Vadym Troyan, as his deputy – with control over the police). Instead of listening to the radio, I take a moment and remember these words, “For the powerful, crimes are those that others commit”. Naom Chomsky.

Thank you Ms Bartlett for going to the Ukraine and for being a proper journalist. Be careful and stay safe.

  2. Eva, you’re wonderful. I’m, sadly, an out of shape loser who spends every day trolling people who have integrity.
